Kaolin

Kaolin is a mixture of various minerals. Its main component is kaolinite; it often contains quartz, mica, feldspar, illite, and montmorillonite. It is formed by rock weathering. Kaolin is widely used in ceramics, medicine, coated paper, cosmetics, as food additive in toothpaste, as a light diffusing material in white light bulbs. Kaolin is also an important component in porcelain. It is also used in paint to extend titanium dioxide and modify gloss levels; in rubber for semi-reinforcing properties. Kaolin was long used in the production of common smoking pipes in Europe and Asia. Kaolin beneficiation process

Nowadays, global economy is highly developed, the increasing volume of various mineral resources are required for many applications. As we all know, raw and Low grade kaolin doesn’t fit for final applications. It needs to be processed through beneficiation process. Several stages involves in kaolin beneficiation process, including crushing; grinding; sometime screening; gravity separation; magnetic separation and flotation etc.  Crushing and grinding stages are aim to reduce the raw kaolin to fine particle size. Screening is the auxiliary process between the former two stages; it is for screen the required materials. Sometimes flotation-magnetic-gravity separation methods maybe used for refined kaolin concentrate for certain applications.
